This past week I was blessed enough to attend the Catholic Heart Workcamp in Nashville, TN. I was gifted SO many amazing people, SO many amazing friends, and SO many amazing memories that will be cherished forever. I felt encompassed by God’s love and grace all week and I will never take a single moment I spent on the trip for granted. I was assigned to Group 42 and had the best 7 people I could have asked for to spend my workday with. We were the hands and feet of Jesus as we served the community of Nashville and specifically the First Community Church where we helped in any way we could. We did everything from moving cases of food and clearing years of vines and roots from a fence, to painting the inside and outside of the church and clearing out and reorganizing a shed. Some days reached 102 degrees but singing good music, matching each others energy, and Minister Q’s popsicles got us through. This week has taught me more about faith, Catholicism, myself, and what it means to truly serve the Lord, than any other time in my life. I already miss waking up at 5 to see the sunrise and meeting up in our “secret” room for late night laughs and snacks, I miss our long walk to the cold showers and the friends we made standing in line waiting for them, and I especially miss crushing Caprisuns after program.
