Exactly 4 years ago, at a thai restaurant in Kansas City, Katie surprised us by asking if we would be her backing band and make a record with her. The next day, we played our first music together when she joined us on stage in KC for a cover of Lucinda’s “Drunken Angel.” We started touring as her band soon after and were lucky enough to participate in the St. Cloud session with @bradleywcook and @nickkinseymusic. We planned on touring that record basically all of 2020. Obviously plans changed and we’re just now wrapping up the St. Cloud tour. It’s been a legit adventure and it has been the anchor keeping us moored through turbulent personal and collective times these past few years. Katie’s been a leader, a mentor, and most importantly, a friend that fully believes in us. It’s been a privilege to be a part of the Waxahatchee story. We can’t wait for the world to hear the incredible @plainsband record, and to see what Katie does next.
