America’s Playground (2022) #StopGunViolence • Yesterday 19 young children and two adults have died in a shooting at a primary school in south Texas. The gunman opened fire at Robb Elementary School, which teaches children aged 7 - 10 in the city of Uvalde. The suspect also shot his Grandmother and himself left dead. • How many times we turn the news on and hear or read about a shooting in USA? America really sets the playground and what kind of play is welcome and in this case; still the use of Guns. These stories and horrific scenes seem to be a ‘day in the life of’ which is not only heartbreaking but ridiculous. When is #GunCrime going to stop? Those innocent children and staff members going into school as a normal day only to be ploughed down by bullets never to go back home. • Like many, we’re across the pond from USA and seeing these continuous politicians sharing their “grief” and “enough is enoughs” only irritates the mix and adds more heartbreak of no change. Nothing changes, if nothing changes. Their lack, and their choice of decision is what creates the playground for the society they allow and sadly 21 children and adults were victim of it. • I also felt to share Steve Kerrs’ extremely poignant interview where he could have so easily spent a few seconds sparing his condolences and then moving onto Basketball, but instead gave a piece of his mind. It’s an extremely powerful interview which needs to be heard but above all, understood. • Artwork is titled “Americas Playground (2022)” - God bless those children, those who lost their lives and the families in mourning.
