Well, that wasn’t how I planned on ending my debut at the Canadian Superbike Championship at Mosport at the weekend.
It was an amazing weekend and I was in the battle for fourth when I lost the front at turn three, and the next thing I knew, I was in the medical center after a little trackside snooze...
Thanks to all the medics who took great care of me. It was a big hit—third gear, about 100mph into the wall. Bummer.
Thanks so much to Aprilia USA and in particular, Shane Pacilio, Dan Trotti and Oliver for all their work in making this event happen. We were in the hunt with two top seven finishes until it went wrong, but as they say, that’s racing.
Also, thanks to @alpinestars for creating such excellent safety gear. I’ve no doubt had I not been wearing the airbag I’d be in way worse shape. I’ve hardly got a scratch on me except for a really sore head and a foggy memory.
I’ll be pulling the data from this suit to measure how much impact I took and will be writing about it for Cycle News.
Cheers also to the 2022 CSBK champion, @benyoung_86. What a gentleman. He made me feel really welcome and gave me plenty of tips and advice for this tricky yet incredible circuit.
Now it’s time for a nap. My head hurts...
