Alexandre Barthelemy, Paris, 1995. More half-frame camera action, on my stomping grounds, shot with something that was more toy than camera... Anyway, where should I start with @dj_maf ? I will keep it short and tidy, by stating that for years he was the most feared/beloved skateshop employee in Paris, mostly delivering final one liners from behind the Street Machine counter. Most interesting part of it is he officially quit skating before actually starting to work in a skateshop. Which is fine, but was kinda frown upon when skating was such a small counterculture. Alexandre was making it even more entertaining by voicing his razor sharp opinions about skateboarding with zero restrain. Basically, the best thing that could happen to you back then was walking into Street Machine w hile he was watching whatever video just came out... The roasting was intense. Best part was that Alexandre being a super talented skateboarder, he would get incessantly challenged to live up to his own standard of ripping, that about once a year, he would spend a full working day setting-up a complete fitting his insanely precise needs, and go skate for an hour or two, only to do something insane, usually for a photo. Then brush off his very non-skate friendly outfit and sell said complete. I could go on, but you would not believe me. Long story short, this was either one of those, but most likely him just walking by with vintage basket ball shoes on and borrowing a board to do a back tail just to shut everybody down. Gold. As anyone that was around back then, and they will confirm anything I just wrote about one of the most interesting character of Paris skateboarding over a couple decades... #alexandrebarthelemy #benjamindeberdtphotography #halfframephotography #colorslide #halfframecamera
