A year ago today, my first novel “Arthur” was published. I know I’ve talked extensively about it, but it was one of the most important moments in my life.
Since I was 5, I’ve always wanted my own book. And though my path to a novel has been a bit circuitous, nothing has ever felt more “real” than holding Arthur in my hands and seeing what some silly idea during the pandemic could turn into.
While most of my writing is in the fashion market, my passion remains in fiction. I can’t wait to finish my second novel, continue Arthur Croots’ story in New York, and get a few short stories out in the world, too.
To those of you who have read my work, bought my novel, or even attended one of my book release parties at @cadandthedandy_nyc, @le.alfre or @dempseyandcarroll — thank you.
And for those who haven’t read “Arthur” but might be a bit curious about it, I’ve included the prologue here for you to get a taster. It’s very much a picaresque novel, inspired by early Iris Murdoch and Evelyn Waugh. Much of myself is in the characters, for better or for worse. And it’s centered on a deep affection for dogs.
And, ahem, it’s available via the link in my bio 😅
Well, that is all to say, today is a very special day to me indeed and cheers to the next one!
