Yesterday was our fourth and final monthly community lunch of the season in Red Hook’s Coffey Park, making and sharing food for the people in partnership with @1to1foods, @pioneerworks and a beloved network of guest chefs including @chefnaomisantos_ @gabriel_arv @why_so_nonchalant and @kreung_cambodia! A pleasure to collaborate with the brilliant sunbeam that is @chefnaomisantos_ to close it out yesterday. Together we served 125+ free lunches of chicken and jackfruit pinchos (grilled skewers), potato salad, arepas de coco and salad in bitter melon vinaigrette; plus more jerk chicken (thank you @chefjb_gotit for the spice blend), lovingly fire tended by @why_so_nonchalant. We were also blessed with a squash grown by the Chinese moms and grandmas of the @redhookfarms Wolcott St. Garden Club 🧡🧡 Naturally, we grilled it up and served it. A blessing to be able to source veg from @redhookfarms, share space with awesome local orgs like @redhookartproject and @rhookinitiative who have BEEN holding it down in Red Hook; and meet (and see again and again) folx of the neighborhood, in English, Spanish and Chinese.
