This was shot in 1976/77 at the home of Gary Capo who went on to create the iconic surf film "Many Classic Moments" and who became a sought after cinematographer in Hollywood working on films like Iron Man. When Jeremy Gosch and I produced the film "Bustin' Down the Door" I asked Gary about buying the rights to footage from his film. He said there will never be charge - great guy and great gesture. A few hours before the pic Gary had taken me down to "D & W", his local, semi-secret surf spot just beneath the landing strip at LA airport. It was a massive north swell with a strong south wind - dead offshore, and I couldn't believe what I was seeing - grinding 6 foot barrels off a stone jetty. I was fresh from an entire winter in Hawaii and I paddled out and pulled into some of the best tubes I have ever had in California - a once in a lifetime experience! @wsl @surfrider @carlatomson
