Posted by @micheleromeronyc, reposted by @curtisleejamie, and, if we’re being honest, all three of us originally posted this post way back in October of 2018. 14 months later we’re posting again because this portrait was just recognized by the @lapressclub as A Best Feature Photo. Originally shot for Entertainment Weekly as part of a feature on Jamie Lee Curtis’ epic return to her role as Laurie Strode in “Halloween,” 40 years after initiating the role at the age of 19. About this particular portrait from the shoot, and to quote the very quotable Ms. Romero... “I asked Jamie what she would say to Laurie Strode after 40years of playing this character. Jamie is brilliant and answered, ‘It will be okay.” I always wanted to make images that lasted longer than a swipe.” Exactly. The light is an @elinchrom_ltd ocotobank on top and an @chimeralighting large soft box underneath. When you swipe you’ll see Jamie playing off of Victoria Wood, her wig designer for the movie. Victoria’s entire look (hair and glasses) was Jamie's inspiration for Laurie Strode four decades later. Jamie was so committed to thanking and appreciating “Laurie” that she threw herself into this set up, which began as just gazing into her eyes and became...the gentle kiss on the forehead.
