“Countryside Sunday” We’ve escaped from the chill in Northern Italy, and are enjoying the green winter of Sicily. During no other season are there quite so many spontaneous flowers and life literally bursting out of protective buds, from almond blossom to the first fig leaf sprouts. We’re picking mandarins, oranges, lemons and grapefruit, and watching peas and fava beans blossom in the vegetable plot. Although today is cloudy, we’ve had countless days of warming sun, perfect for long walks through our grounds, a game or two of tennis and a nap on a sofa in our sun filled living room.
