Let's talk about kids' toothpaste! Sadly, most kid’s toothpaste contains ingredients like Sodium Fluoride, Sodium Lauryl Sulfate, irritating PEGs, artificial flavors, and petroleum-derived dyes like Red 40.😏⁣ ⁣ Fluoride is a controversial ingredient. Many dentists swear by it and love it. However, more and more dentists believe that it is a neurotoxin and should be avoided altogether.⚠️⁣ ⁣ There are especially concerns for those under six years of age using it, which is why many brands have actual warnings on their toothpaste stating to keep it out of reach of children and "if swallowed to get medical help or contact poison control" ASAP. ⁣I don't know about you, but to me, that is a risk not worth taking.🚨⁣ ⁣ Sodium Lauryl Sulfate is a foaming, soap-like agent with various links to irritations and allergic reactions. Many studies also show that it can also lead to canker sores.⁣ ⁣ When it comes to dyes, the Red40 is strictly for aesthetic but did you know that it has been linked to aggression and mental disorders in children? I am not here to say that using this toothpaste alone will cause these issues, it is simply an ingredient to be mindful of and if you can avoid it, why not?⁣ ⁣ So, what to use instead?
