When we first moved to Lofoten last spring, I don’t think many people understood why. I’m sure some still don’t... We gave up so much to move across the world, and we’ve gained is hard to put into words. We live past a tiny fishing village on an island chain in the arctic. Our home is a little red house on stilts, the Norwegian Sea is beneath our floorboards. A typical night out for me, @charles_post and @mr.knute and involves chasing the midnight sun in the summer or the northern lights in winter. Our nearest town has a population of 8 (yes, really 8) of year round residents, and the next closest town has 350 people. We usually get groceries in a town 30 minutes away that has a whopping 3,600 people. But in today’s world of *crowded loneliness,* though we don’t usually have a lot of people around, the friends we do have and our connection with family and friends back in America mean even more. Somehow we don’t feel lonely, we feel free and full and happy. We’re always pushing at our growth edges now, and even simple things feel like an adventure. I know not everyone would like to live like this, and not everyone who wants to is able to, but it works for us, and we’re so grateful. I’m beyond inspired by this place (as a professional artist, writer, aspiring YouTube creator, and more) and the harsh climate has taught us to always take advantage of moments like this.
