Trust in me 🐋 Humpback whale mothers are incredibly maternal and affectionate towards their calves, frequently touching them with their flippers and appearing to nuzzle them with their faces. During the time that they are together, the mothers are solely responsible for the safety and nourishment of the calves. Without their mothers, whale calves would survive only a matter of days on their own. Calves stay with their mothers for up to a year before they set off into the the big blue by themselves.
