It’s field trip season! And to get ready for a class of 30 students (this one was from Laing Middle in Mount Pleasant!), a lot happens before we get on the water. •Pre-trip gear check and set up of the kayaks • PFD fittings on each student, foot pedal adjustments and a short paddling lesson • Then we make it down the dock and get everyone on the water to begin kayaking! This field trip (for middle school and high school students) not only brings science to life— it introduces new skills, challenges students’ abilities and provides kids with a tangible accomplishment at the end of the trip!
