More cishet women need to realize that homophobia and transphobia, too, are vestiges of sexism weaponized by the very system of oppression (patriarchy) they’re claiming to be fighting. More need to understand that there’s no women’s liberation without queer and trans liberation. Without this understanding, the reproductive justice movement will fall into the same old trap repeated throughout history that makes the entire movement’s foundation wobbly and worse, oppressive. It’s alarming (though not at all surprising) to see so many trans-exclusionary narratives taking hold and being used to mobilize people. Let’s do better.
