Heshima in english means human dignity, it means honor + respect. while in Kenya we got to visit Heshima housing + school for special needs children, run by tracy, eric + their son simon (who is also the pastor there), their story is incredible! sooo worth a read from their website! https://heshima.org/story/ they believe that Jesus has a special purpose filled with dignity for children with special needs, + all human beings are made in the image of God, regardless of their outward appearance. this to me could not be more true. these children are usually forgotten shamed or abused in their communities but heshima is a place where they are respected, taught about JESUS, fed + cared for intentionally!! it truly is the light in the dark. we got there + they were in worship, after introducing ourselves we did a little VBS + we talked about the TRUTH of the Gospel. after coloring we sang + danced to i thank God and we repeated that bridge over + over!!
