Heard it was #transawarenessweek so here are some questions for (self) awareness 🪷 I’m often asked by cis people what they can do to be better allies to trans people and one of my responses is always to do the work themselves in deconstructing and understanding their own relationship to their gender, to not take their gender for granted as a normative default and to see that we all have some sort of relationship to gender and the societal expectations placed on us. Trans people desperately need advocates who understand that we all benefit when we work to create more affirming opportunities to be curious about our genders and move away from rigid rules and make room for expansiveness, creativity, play, and self-determination. Speaking of gender euphoria, I got to meet @walkthemoon again years after meeting them for the first time in Philly and even more years after the first time I ever saw them at Bonnaroo in 2013 where their really wholesome, corny, and effervescent white people music spiritually embedded itself into my psyche as I peaked 😵‍💫 Incredible to be able to see them again for their 10-year anniversary show as a fully realized hot bisexual woman and I felt so beautiful while dancing to their song Jenny as Jenny, a name I took from my mom, and when @nicholaspetricholas stared into my soul and gave me their setlist, I ascended 🙏🏼 Thanks @jkaleekal for always spoiling me and being at the mercy of my every whim and desire 🤭 love you 🥰
