"It was a place that surprised, dumbfounded and massively inspired me,” says Indagare's Simone Girner (@monefoto), on scouting in Tunisia in early 2020. “What I loved most was the immense variety of experiences, including everything from a vibrant medina in Tunis and the incredible Roman ruins at Dougga to listening to the wind in the mustard-colored dunes of the Sahara.”
Tunisia is a country of stunning contrasts; its landscapes range from southern desert expanses to verdant farmland up north, and attractions are as varied as archaeological sites, postcard-perfect seaside villages and a buzzing contemporary scene in Tunis—juxtaposed with one of the world’s oldest medinas. On our inaugural #InsiderJourneys trip to Tunisia in March, a small group of travelers will experience what it’s like to “scout” an up-and-coming destination, in the company of @indagarefounder Melissa Biggs Bradley. Our itinerary will explore bustling Tunis, go behind the scenes with local artisans and insiders and head south to Tozeur, the gateway to the Sahara Desert.
