Leonard Angel • Sept 20, 1945 - Aug 21, 2022
Lenny came in to my life wile I was in the throes my pouty preteen phase. He gave my then single Mom and I both of us an unwavering loyalty and stability we hadn’t known. His beautiful children Ken and Naomi sweetened the deal. They were easily lovable and around my age. I was an only child no more. Our lives were much easier there after mom married Lenny. I hadn’t been around men a lot up until Mom re-married. It was a special thing to have such a gentle reliable wise spirt as my masculine role model. I still draw on his ways of nonjudgmental compassionate acceptance towards others in my life today.
Lenny grew up in Montreal, he was a beatnik, a fine artist, play write, author, a philosopher, a Jewish born, Zen Buddhist. His love of people, meditation, and quest for learning made him the most balanced content person I’ve ever known. Even when he was faced with the crushing loss of his daughter, my sister, Naomi, or with the vicious neurological disease that eventually took him from us, he was completely stoic. He never complained he trusted life’s process.
Around 10 yrs ago Lenny began exhibiting signs of PSP (progressive supranuclear palsy) it was a painfully slow process watching him lose his physical abilities. Mom was a valiant wife who was by his side every single step of the way. While the world feels empty without having Lenny here, we’re grateful his suffering is over. The love and support he’s shown his family and loved ones lives on through us. We love you our Angel. Thank you for showing us such strength in softness.
