I forgot to post a February museum roundup. I’ve been busy disassociating 😎
Anywho, 10/10 recommend you see “Blue Whale 3D” at the science center. 45 mins hanging with blue whales in the gulf of California. I’m a sucker for 3D science movies tho.
We had friends staying with us, so I convinced us to go to a panel on climate mobility at the new Natural History Museum Commons building. The panel was pretty mid, but we got to see the new dinosaur fossil and the reception was in the museum after hours so it wasn’t a total waste.
I went to a screening of dream hampton’s verite style doc “it was all a dream” at the California African American museum. The footage she had collected of the NY/LA 90s hip hop scene was unreal. Lil baby biggie and snoop and even Jurassic 5 made the cut. In her discussion after she said the cost to license everything makes the doc impossible to put out, she can’t even put it out for free on her website. Such a bummer, I wish I had invited more ppl to see it.
And lastly, not really a museum but it is a CA African American museum affiliate, we made it to the final days of Ben Caldwell at Art + Practice. It was a cool retrospective/history of the art scene in Leimert Park. I got my new tote and I’ve already used in on a weekend trip to San Clemente. I’ll let you know when the new show opens at A+P because rumor has it they’re opening an art book store across from their gallery 🤞🤞
It’s funny because people tell me I’m always doing something and then I’m like “dude, I’m on a budget, if there’s a free event accessible from the expo line, I’m there!” So keep me in your heart if you ever see something you want to go to and you want someone to tag along with you!
I hope you are finding community wherever you can during this wild time. 💕💕 love you.
