Local sources report that Qassam left a message inside an evacuated house during the battles in the Gaza Strip: “Dear family members, forgive us. We have used some of your possessions, including food and clothing, out of necessity. We ask God for safety for everyone. Your brothers in the Martyr Izz al-Din al-Qassam Brigades.”
