Yesterday, March 20th, was the spring equinox - the day when the sun sits vertically above the equator and the northern and southern hemispheres are bathed in exactly the same amount of sunlight, day and night are equal. At exactly 3.33 pm yesterday the sun crossed the celestial equator moving from the south to the north and the northern hemisphere changes from facing away to facing towards the sun.
You can feel the earth warming, it is a moment to celebrate as nature awakens.
A bright yellow fluttery flash in the gardens yesterday was such a happy sight, a solitary male brimstone butterfly boldly heralding the first day of astronomical springtime. We launch our sea buckthorn and brimstone tableware collection today in collaboration with the talented Bell Hutley and the butterfly’s cheerful announcement of spring could not have been more welcome or timely.
Thank you to everyone who celebrated the spring equinox and the launch of this collection with the fabulous @bellhutley @bertioli.by.thyme 💚
