David R. Maracle 🎼
Host musician David R. Maracle & Friends come together for a wonderful evening of music, and reflection, also in the spirit of Truth & Reconciliation day which is now a National day of Recognition for the Residential School Survivors.
David is a community member from the Tyendinaga Mohawk Territory, an activist for Indigenous rights and culture, an international award-winning multi-instrumentalist musician and composer, and producer who wanted to bring this concert together to bring attention to the Mohawk Language program on the
Territory.
David has been crafting his artistry since 1985, bringing to life the ancestral teachings of the Haudenosaunee People’s way of life through his magnificent stone sculptures.
David's accolades include numerous Canadian Indigenous Music Awards and has had the fortune of performing his ambient music all over the world. David also recently had the honour to perform virtually from the Empire Theatre for the 50th JUNO Awards for the opening and closing ceremonies during the Indigenous Juno Nominee Awards segment. He has released over 17 musical compilations during his multi-faceted career.
Due to the ever changing world of a global pandemic, David was forced to pivot his career off the road. He turned his focus to his newest endeavour - managing a successful Indigenous retreat entitled “LiL Crow Cabin & PODS Courtyard.'
