Our very own @drtalibogler, chair of Family Medicine Obstetrics at St. Michael’s Hospital, speaks with @ctvnews about the exceedingly rare cases of hepatitis in kids and what symptoms parents should look out for. Out of the theories mentioned, the underexposure to viruses during the pandemic likely does NOT play a role. The leading theory at the moment is that this might be a post infectious inflammatory syndrome driven by adenovirus or COVID-19, but nothing should be ruled out at this point. We obviously need a systematic process (which is currently underway) so we don't prematurely rule in or rule out causes. Stay tuned to this space as we will share more as we learn more.
