Today we're remembering Nichelle Nichols, a beloved @StarTrek legend. She helped blaze new trails on Earth and in space–starring as one of the first Black actresses in a major television series and later helping recruit women and people of color to become astronauts at @NASA. @BarackObama has spoken about being a young Star Trek fan, praising the show’s emphasis on our common humanity and the need for collaborative problem solving. In 2012, Nichelle met with President Obama at the White House, where they flashed the Vulcan salute together.
