Went straight from work to Notting Hill Carnival in my bike shorts, trainers and “wife beater”. I HAD to go because I wanted to witness the legacy that Claudia Jones (notable Caribbean black feminist) created. I’ve read a little about the carnival, but to see it for yourself is breathtaking. London has some of THE most beautiful black people I’ve ever laid eyes on. It’s exceptional to see black folks, notably Caribbean folks take absolute pride in who they are, the carnival itself felt Pan African in nature. My only regret is not taking the South Sudanese 🇸🇸 flag and wearing it on my back, because believe it or not, I met the sweetest South Sudanese girlies ❤️ I shook my ass, broke a sweat and drank some rum.
