A bullet to the head of Shireen Abu Akleh was not enough terror. Israeli officers ripped Palestinian flags off the church her family was mourning in. They smashed the window of the hearse carrying her body. They struck the pallbearers of her coffin, nearly dropping her corpse onto the street — her brothers never let her go. Thousands of Christian and Muslims joined her funeral procession. Her Christianity an inconvenient truth in the effort to brand this apartheid as religious. Her wreath was her flag. Tears. Rage.
