In Aotearoa endometriosis affects one in 10 girls, women and those assigned female at birth. Despite its prevalence, shockingly endometriosis takes an average of nine years to be diagnosed. Many of those living with the chronic inflammatory condition suffer in silence with endometriosis taking a huge toll on mental health, relationships, careers, and general wellbeing.
Over the next few weeks Fashion Quarterly's One in 10 project will be sharing the stories of those impacted by endometriosis in order to raise awareness and help end the silent suffering of many Kiwis.
If you have your own story to share, use #Onein10NZ and tag @fashionquarterly. The more we talk about endometriosis and share our stories, the more we can support each other to manage pain and the impact it has on our lives.
