When I was younger, I was sitting in a classroom when I asked my teacher what he felt was his community. I can’t remember how the question came about or what exactly I said but I remember his answer. He said Jewish. He explained to me that beingJewish was so intertwined with his image of himself, that he couldn’t imagine himself without that identity. I remember he grabbed his necklace as he said it. I don’t really know why I remember it so vividly. Some memories stick out further than winning awards or attending the premiere of your first series. I’ll save specifics for a late night show or a book; but, these two have had a profound impact on my art. And because of it, an immeasurable impact on my life. The art doesn’t happen if many other people don’t “happen” to the artist first. Also fuck antisemitism. (Sorry for saying f*** mom) Have a very anti-bigot day❤️
