Why is sleeping with wet hair not ideal? ⤵️
Every once in a while won't hurt, but doing this every single wash day can cause some issues.
• If you style your hair with product then go to bed, your curls likely won't dry right because they're being smushed and mis-shaped as you sleep. They will also get tangled, frizzy and can even lead to breakage.
• If you sleep with your hair up in a towel, like in a "plop", this suffocates the scalp and can exacerbate underlying skin conditions such as fungus of the scalp, dandruff or dermatitis.
• Leaving your hair wet for long periods of time, repeatedly, can cause moisture overload and hygral fatigue, which weakens the hair and cause it to fall limp. (🔗 in profile for a video about this).
🔹What can you do instead?
👉Ideal situation: Diffuse your hair until its dry before bed. Then wear it up in a bonnet or scarf and sleep on a silk pillowcase
If you feel like your hair takes too long to diffuse, then try implementing the techniques to reduce dry time that I share in my YT video (🔗 in profile).
Do you not diffuse because it causes frizz? Check my page for videos on "diffusing mistakes that cause"
Another option is to wash your hair, let it air dry before bed without products, then go to sleep on a silk pillowcase. Spray your hair with water the next morning and then add your products and diffuse. This is ideal to do every single wash because hygral fatigue can occur from repeated wetting and drying over time.
I hope this helps! ❤️
