Having leant her skills to an eclectic repertoire of roles throughout her career, there is one thing Laura Haddock wants to see more both on the big screen and small screen, the everyday realities of working women and mothers: “a maternal pull coupled with a really strong desire to have a really successful career, one that I can enjoy and one that can support my life. That is a hell of a balance.” In the Winter issue of Glass, she tells us of the depths she was forced to explore while portraying the steely CIA asset Max Meladze in Netflix’s The Recruit - a role that was as complex as it was challenging. Though at the surface Max is an antagonist to be feared, Haddock professed how the role revealed a more fearless energy within her, one that acknowledges mistakes and endeavours to continue, something she hopes is translated to the masses: “We [women] multi task really well and we don’t always speak about how difficult that can be sometimes, but we also don’t speak about how wonderful that can be sometimes...[I’m] trying to be the best mum and trying to have the best career.
