A couple days ago I had the privilege of previewing “The Fastest Woman on Earth,” an inspirational movie about @thejessicombs attempting her Landspeed record. What a beautiful, difficult, amazing experience it was to get an hour and a half of bonus time with our friend, and I can’t wait for the rest of the world to fall in love with her on @hbomax, premiering October 20th. I am honored to have contributed photographs of Jessi to the film. Thank you so much to @instagraham1978 and the team who brought this decades-long project to life. I’m so fucking proud of you all. Before Jessi was my friend she was one of my inspirations. You know that saying never meet your heroes? That didn’t apply to her. With so much clout Jessi could have easily been a diva, but she was kind, real, genuine, & a vocal champion of women, as well as a personal vocal champion of myself and my work, which always meant a lot to me because I held her in such high regard. She was the fuckin’ real deal. This film feels important to introduce Jessi to a wider audience, but it also feels important because Jessi gives a voice to the struggles that women like myself and my friend group experience as highly independent, alternative, mold-breaking, headstrong women, struggles I rarely hear reflected in any kind of mainstream media.
