Do you notice any of these signs of your hair needing protein?
- Damage from bleach, hair dye, or excessive heat
- Breakage
- Overly soft hair that doesn't hold
- Curls fall easily
- Limp curls
For damaged hair, use a treatment like @curlsmith_official's Bond Curl Rehab Salve a couple times a month to strength the hair and prevent breakage. Shampoo after using and follow up with a protein-free deep conditioner like the Hydro Creme Soothing Mask.
Another option for strengthening the hair is to use a deep conditioner with some protein like the Curlsmith Multi-tasking Conditioner. This is great for some low-dose protein and moisture. Healthy hair and damaged hair can benefit from this.
For a balanced styling routine, opt for a protein-free cream, and use a gel with some protein like the Shape Up Aqua gel to define curls with light hold. I typically opt for one or two products in my routine with protein. If I used a treatment like Bond Curl, I would go for protein-free stylers.
For extra hold, I scrunched in a light layer of Shine Gel on top of the Shape Up Aqua Gel.
