“Now you’re a Canadian!” said a friend in my 🙋‍♀️ week 2 in Canada when I paddled a canoe for the first time - didn’t know how to swim back then, but the love of canoeing and kayaking grew so strong that for a decade, this would be my fav activity all summer; still without knowing how to swim! So when we had kids, we decided to introduce them to this very Canadian activity before they even learnt to sit on their own. Snuggled between our legs, wearing life jackets bigger than themselves, they would ride along and we would continue paddling - all summer long! We’ve canoed/kayaked in the ocean, the seas, the Great Lakes and even small lakes, but nothing felt as special as canoeing over Lake Louise - for the water was so clear and blue, it felt like we were also floating.
