A few more emotional candid shots and mostly formal portraits of my dear sisters (Nyeema, Rashida, Nsenga, Lauren, Rose and Courtney) who ushered me through the season of love and ritual. About this union, it is the story of two artists who met over 15 years ago in Houston, Texas, reconnected during the pandemic online through a mutual friend’s encouragement, and married 6 months later in New York City. We had a beautiful intimate, nikah ceremony at my family home in Saint Albans, New York, on a beautiful Sunday morning, blessed by Spring rain showers and later in the Summer (pictured in today’s post) blossomed into the walima celebration with guests at a lush, plant covered outdoor venue, The Foundry, in Long Island City, New York, . Both events were special due to the unique combination of intimacy and urgency, shared feelings of the pandemic overall. In addition to family in attendance, we as artists have many close friends in common making both events a succession of reunions of warm and like souls. May Allah protect us and fill our union with barakah بركة, Ameen 🤲🏾 📸 @argenisphoto + 📱 from guests ☺️ #muslimwedding
