SCIENCE SUPPORTED PROTOCOLS FOR MANAGING STRESS• - While stress can be beneficial for short term memory formation, and for enhancing focus, if it disrupts sleep or persists for too long or occurs too regularly, it can be detrimental. - Having both what I call “real-time tools” to mitigate stress and tools to increase your threshold for stress can be useful because the stress response is relatively generic, whereas there are a near infinite number of stressors in life. we need to learn how to mitigate stress for ourselves. It’s a skill but it’s one that can be learned immediately and you can make progress quickly; data support that. - Prior to having a social media account or podcast, my laboratory @stanford.med studied the neural circuits and for stress mitigation (e.g., PMID: 36630953; PMID: 33242389). - Data from those studies, and the work of others has led to the discovery of specific protocols that anyone can implement to improve their stress regulation for purposes of health and performance. - To learn more, find the Master Stress episode at hubermanlab.com in all formats. It is timestamped so you can navigate quickly to the topics and protocols most of interest to you. - Meanwhile, please put any questions in the comments section below this post. And as always, thank you for your interest in science! - @hubermanlab @stanford.med @stanford - #neuroscience #science #ciencia #neuroplasticity #stress #calm #sleep #sigh #physiologicalsigh #cold #adrenaline
