It's well worth heading west of Croatia to the family-run restaurant @konobamate – awarded a MICHELIN Green Star -- where authentic cuisine full of flavour has been served to guests for over two decades. Much of the food here is homemade, including bread, the highly recommended pasta served with various sauces or home-grown vegetables.
At Konoba Mate, each member of the restaurant team does what he or she loves and what they are best at. While the farmer takes care of everything, from livestock to the farm, his co-worker is in the field so that the food that the guests eat is fresh and grown only in ecologically accepted way. The team uses everything what nature gives them to make sure they do not take too much from the environment.
