Fresh after a new season drops, one of the first characters I always feel compelled to explore is Samantha LaRusso. Though the character divides opinion across the fandom, there's no denying that Samantha, through the spectacular performances of @missmarymmouser, tackles powerful issues season after season and delivers the goods again in season 5 as she tackles her toxic relationship with Karate. I loved the scene where, left to her thoughts in the sensory deprivation tank, Sam is confronted by her inner turmoil - Light Sam Vs Dark Sam was a great idea, brilliantly executed by the stunt team, and as the show excels at, a unique way to tell the story whilst keeping the action flowing. Whether your pro Sam one of those people who traces everyones problems back to her decision making in Season 1, I defy anyone not to get a lump in their throat as she tells Miguel "I'm not OK right now". In a season packed with emotive moments, this was one of the very best, as Sam utters the words many of us will have wanted or needed to say at some point.
