Today’s writing office is rather special! A change of location and a different perspective is always good for the soul! I wanted to share a tiny snapshot of the life of a debut author, navigating this brave new world and in the middle of structural edits for my second novel. I was chatting to a friend today who asked how the writing was going and I said “I have my mojo and am really putting in the hours.” He then said “But you love it,don’t you? Losing yourself in the place and people you’re writing about. It must be fun.” My reply was “Of course, I absolutely love it, if I can push the deadline out of my mind, the anxiety that I can make it better but I don’t know how, the fact that I hope everyone who loved my first one will adore this as much. Yes, it’s enjoyable in a completely masochistic, gloriously torturous way! Like picking off a scab you’ve been saving....painful and deeply satisfying all at once.
