Happy Stop Food Waste Day!! We’re super excited to update y’all on our partnership with @pwpmproducemkt 🥦 Nearly 4 million pounds of fresh produce saved and redistributed to Philadelphia communities in less than 10 months💥 This operation is truly ZERO waste. Every piece of sorted produce that is not fit for human consumption, gets composted or up-cycled thanks to local farmers and partners like @dogoodfoods Thanks to incredible food bank partners like @philabundance and @sharefoodphilly, this produce has been able to reach hundreds of thousands of individuals and families through schools, pantries, and mutual aid efforts. More than 35% of the food we produce in the United States goes to waste; this is just one example of what can be done to solve the problem. We aim to expand operations like this, but we need more people coming together to do this everywhere, ASAP.
