I'm now traveling the country speaking about how Chevron poisoned the Amazon and other urgent environmental justice issues. The travesty of what Chevron did in Ecuador's Amazon is always at the forefront. I literally lose sleep over it. The sheer scale of it blows my mind; an area the size of the US state of Rhode Island is just shot through with carcinogenic poisons in the water, air, and soil. Witnesses at our trial who testified against Chevron have died of cancer while the company employs all sorts of trickery to evade complying with the law. Chevron left about 1,000 of the pits in the photo on the left which have been devastating the once-beautiful Ecuadorian rainforest and its various ecosystems for over 50 years. We will not stop until the company complies with the rule of law and pays for a proper clean-up and compensation to the thousands who have suffered harm. This means full accountability. The Amazon communities of Ecuador and their advocates are going to need even more support in the coming months as the fight continues. We won the case; we now must finish the job.
