A month since Troy Michie’s opening in Houston, a week since his talk in New Orleans, we are going back through all the photos with gratitude and longing. We have had the wild and wonderful pleasure of working with artist Troy Montes Michie— in the archives of Amistad Research Center, in the development of his first artist’s book, in the presentation of his first solo exhibition at the California African American Museum in Los Angeles, and on the tour of that exhibition to the Contemporary Art Museum Houston. Over three years, we developed shorthand, inside jokes, and the deepest respect. With thanks for all the time and for all we have learned, we share some images from our most recent chapter together.
