What do art and medicine have to do with each other? A lot, as first-year medical students learned at the first of three workshops at @blantonmuseum. Through observing art on display at the Blanton Museum, students learned to: · Tolerate ambiguity · Look beyond boundaries · Explore empathy through art · Generate multiple possibilities · Be curious if things don't meet your expectations · Learn limitations we all have as both listeners and interpreters · Understand the value of seeing and listening to diverse perspectives The workshops led by Blanton Museum staff build skills @DellMedSchool students will use their whole career — but the workshops are not just for students. Residents and fellows attend workshops throughout their time at Dell Med too, proving just how much an art museum environment can help develop the skills being a good physician requires.
