To my son on his first birthday... Atlas, a year ago today you came into this world and changed my life forever. This past year has by far been the hardest of my entire life but also the most incredible and profound. You have taught me more in your short life than I’ve learned in my whole lifetime. Your strength has helped me harness my own strength, your fight has awoken the fight in me, your resilience has made me see everything through a lens of optimism, your journey has made me believe in miracles, your smile overwhelms me with gratitude and your unconditional love has taught me unconditional love. You made me a mommy and you’ve made me the best version of myself. There have been times in this last year when things were scary and I wished for a different reality, I wished I had been able to carry you to term, I wished things were easy but today I am grateful for every moment we’ve had together, the good and the bad. I love you beyond words my sweet Atlas. I love our little family. I’m madly in love with your daddy. We are so blessed. Happy birthday, my son.
