Msalosh (Lahmajun) This dish hails from the cities of Antep and Urfa, and was introduced to the Arab world by Armenian bakers who fled during the genocide. My grandfather’s side of the family was originally from Antep before they had to move to Kilis, then eventually fled to Aleppo, Syria before moving to Yerevan in the 40s. This was my grandfather’s favorite dish and every year on his birthday, my family buys Msalosh (Lahmajun) to honor his memory and feed his spirit. I never got a chance to meet my grandfather, however his presence was definitely felt this morning.
