Three amazing talents I spent time with this week in NYC !!️ 💥 Christina Quarles. @cequarles Christina’s very distinctive paintings depict queer intimacy in a powerful and trippy style. She mixes textures, techniques and mediums to achieve a layered and visually rich canvas. Her AMAZING show opened at @hauserwirth NY last night 💥 Leasho Johnson. @leasho_johnson Jamaican- born and Chicago- based Leasho makes large scale paintings, although since the pandemic he also works on a smaller scale. His dynamic paintings reference dancehall culture and place queer bodies and mythical figures within vibrant natural landscapes. He currently has a selection of beautiful works on the @terngallery booth at the Armory Show 💥 Doron Langberg. @doronlangberg Doron is a Brooklyn-based painter, whose gorgeous paintings use a unique palette to capture queer bodies, their relationship with each other and with the spaces around them, often including the queertopia of Fire Island.
