But what if you already have a good stable career that you’re proud of? Nursing is an amazing career. It gives me so much flexibility, ability to make extra money with overtime, time off with shift work, connected me with amazing coworkers who have become family and be able to help others which is such a gift. But for a long time my whole identity was tied in nursing and if someone would ask me to describe myself, I’d immediately say “I’m a nurse” like that was the best and only thing I had to offer. Through self-development, leaning into fear and fully stepping out of my comfort zone, I’m able to say yes, I’m a nurse but I’m so much more. I’m hard working, I love to face challenges, when I have my mind set to something I go after it till I reach my goals, I love to create, I have two businesses, I love animals, travel and wellness, I’m a good friend, dog mom and family member and I care so deeply about others. I was so stuck in that mindset that I’m a nurse and I help others, it took a lot of work to remember that nursing isn’t WHO I am. Who I am is something no one can take away from me. Growing a business teaches you so much about yourself and I am so darn happy I took that leap of faith. Never let a career solely define you and remember just because you’re doing something you always saw yourself doing, doesn’t mean you can’t change your mind, try something new on the side and step out of your comfort zone.
