Now that we’ve had a week to marinate and sit with all the flavors and feelings that come with organizing an endeavor such as #glidingbarnacles2022 we can finally share a few words with you. Gliding Barnacles started in 2014 as a movement to protect one of Cabo Mondego’s most precious wave, in Praia do Cabedelo. It all began with a group of friends that wanted to share their love for this wave with the rest of the world. Whilst doing so, it became clear that there was a lot more to share, namely their love for art, music, gastronomy, wine and sustainability 🍬 Nine years later, we can confidently say that not only we were successful in promoting this passion beyond borders, but we also accomplished the underlying goal of creating a community of fellow artists that shared this very same love. There have been some bumps on the road - as there always are - but our mission is finally becoming tangible. We wanted to bring the world to Figueira da Foz and take Figueira da Foz to the world. And you are helping us making it happen. Gliding Barnacles is not a festival. It’s a feeling, a movement, a “melting pot of creativity”, that we we were able to harness and build on top of, with your help and support. After this year’s success, the bar is really high for our upcoming tenth edition, in 2023. A lot is still uncertain regarding next year, but there are two things we know for sure: there will be art, surf and music & we will pour all of our love, hearts and souls into making it happen.
