The picture on the left is my first ever photoshoot that I styled and did my own makeup for in 2007! I was 14 or 15 when I decided I would take modeling more seriously but didn’t have my parents or anyone around to help me get started, so I asked one of my friend’s uncles who was a “photographer” to shoot a few looks of me and I paid him $300 that I had saved up from walking neighborhood dogs! I would find any and every opportunity to model and walk in local DC/MD designers’ fashion shows until I competed for the Miss Maryland USA pageant after graduating college. From there I competed in Miss USA, and went on to compete in America’s Next Top Model, moved to LA and the rest is history! From an amateur ass photoshoot to working with brands worldwide, to pages of @vogueportugal ; if I can do it, so can you! If you have any dream that you just can’t shake off take this as a sign to GO FOR IT! You never know where you’ll end up in a few years. The “small” things you do now in the direction of your dreams, could change your life forever. PS: I ain’t new to this, I’m true to this lol. Been at it before @instagram even existed. My journey was far from easy but here we are! And I still feel like it’s only just beginning.🙏🏾 I never let my temporary circumstances lie to me into thinking where I came from is where I deserved to stay. That’s why I began @victoryovercircumstance to uplift and inspire young women to understand that their purpose is beyond their current circumstance.
