I founded Skin Cancer, Take a Hike in 2014 to help the fight against our most common human cancer—skin cancer. It has left me with scars and also made me scared to be in the sun. Ironic for a dermatologist to have skin cancer, yes. But I was always a swimmer and cyclist and made every mistake possible when it came to sun tanning—many burns and yes even tanning salons before the prom. Years later, now as a skin cancer surgeon and patient myself, my mission is to help prevent people from making those mistakes and prevent skin cancers! We’ve expanded this cause worldwide from Africa (supporting families with albinism) to Alaska, Patagonia, and Iceland. The @aadskin1 has taken this mission to the highest level and look at all of these incredibly dedicated, passionate dermatologists and brave champions raising funding by leaving home and work, challenging ourselves to the core for this mission. Thanks for reading this long message-and if you have a few minutes to click the link in my bio it would be so great if you supported our team’s hard work to help others from skin cancer. One of every 5 of you who read this are predicted to get skin cancer. UV damage from sun exposure is the #1 controllable factor. Wearing hybrid SPF, sun glasses, brimmed hats, UVF clothing, reapplying your sunscreen every 1-2 hours, and getting your skin checked every year are the tips for you today. We depart tomorrow for 4 more hard days and will love to hear from you when we make it to the refugios every night along our trek. Today was day #2 and glorious! Xoxo thank you for your love and support! @skincancertakeahike @mmskincaregenius is a very proud supporter and was inspired by these hikes! 💓💓💓💓
